My latest novel “Casting Stones” continues the adventures of a political consultant that began in “Panama’s Rusty Lock.”

The location of this historical political thriller is in Greece during the 1985 elections, and the pits the United States against the Soviet Union in a battle over Greece’s political and economic future.  The novel is set in the turbulent times of airline hijackings, terror bombings and assassinations. The Soviet KGB, Greek secret police and terrorists all conspire against our hero as he tries to win a national election while simultaneously rescuing twelve invaluable ancient sculptures and at the same time facing critical situation threatening the relationship with his girlfriend back in Washington, D.C.

All of these diverse threads come together in an unexpected and powerful conclusion.

The broad content of “Casting Stones” gives the reader not only an intriguing inside view of an international election, but this was one of the last open field political battles between the US and the Soviet Union in the cold war to determine which economic system would direct the world’s economy.

The historical accuracy and the fate of the son of the former Soviet Premier, Yuri Andropov, who was the actual mentor to Vladimir Putin, provides another aspect of the novel’s contemporary relevance. See jaybeck.net.
